Monday ProCanes Report: Benjamin Sparks a Win

The Monday Morning #ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. A day that started with disappointment for Browns third-year wide receiver Travis Benjamin ended in elation, as Cleveland mounted a jaw-dropping comeback to top Tennessee. Benjamin registered two receiving touchdowns in the comeback for the Browns, who rallied from a 28-3 deficit to record the largest come-from-behind win for a road team in NFL history. Benjamin’s six-yard touchdown catch with less than two minutes remaining put Cleveland ahead for good, capping a thrilling afternoon for #ProCanes across the NFL.

Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers) – six catches, 72 yards, two touchdowns
With all three of his children in attendance for the first time in his professional career, Panthers tight end Greg Olsen made sure to deliver a memorable performance Sunday afternoon. Olsen hauled in team-high totals of six catches and 72 yards, including two touchdown connections with Carolina quarterback Cam Newton for a 31-24 victory over Chicago. Olsen, who led the team with six touchdown catches in 2013, already has four scores through his first five appearances this fall. A six-yard strike from Newton with two minutes remaining on a 3rd & Goal situation proved the decisive score for the Panthers, who improved to 3-2 with the win.

Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) – 18 carries, 107 yards
Just one week after a dominant performance on the ground in a win over Philadelphia, San Francisco 10th-year running back Frank Gore did it again Sunday against Kansas City. Gore recorded 107 yards on 18 carries (5.9-yard average), posting back-to-back 100-yard performances for the first time since 2011. Perhaps the 49ers coaching staff should focus more on Gore; under current head coach Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco entered the afternoon 12-0 when Gore surpassed the century mark. The team stretched that run to 13-0 Sunday, as the 49ers posted a 22-17 win over upstart Kansas City. 49ers fullback Bruce Miller after the game: “Frank Gore is the most consistent player I’ve ever been around.”

Travis Benjamin (Cleveland Browns) – four catches, 48 yards, two touchdowns
After muffing a punt earlier in the game and being removed from the Browns return unit, Travis Benjamin had reason to be frustrated – just last season the Glades Central HS speedster set the franchise’s single-game punt return record with 179 yards. Benjamin more than made up for it by the end of the afternoon, however, hauling in two high passes in the endzone from Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer for the first multi-touchdown performance of his budding career.  Both of Benjamin’s touchdowns came in the fourth quarter: his 17-yard strike cut Tennessee’s lead to six with 4:13 remaining, and his six-yard leaping grab with 1:54 left sealed the Browns’ victory.
