Lomacki Advances, Will Play Top Seed Thursday
TULSA, Okla. – University of Miami freshman Piotr Lomacki won his third-straight singles match in three sets to qualify for the main draw at the Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
“I’m proud of him for finding a way to win when he wasn’t playing his best game, and for keeping his composure under pressure,” said head coach Mario Rincon.
In his third round match of the qualifying draw, Lomacki won a three-set battle against the No. 11 seed senior Bruno Semenzato from Duke. Lomacki lost the first set, came back to win the second, and won the third in a tiebreak, winning the match, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5).
“Piotr found himself in a deep hole being down a set and 4-1,” said Rincon. “He was able to turn the match around by mixing up his shots and coming to the net a lot more.“
Lomacki now moves on to the main draw and will face No. 1 seed Julian Lenz from Baylor. Play will begins at 11 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
