W. Tennis Compete In Riviera/ITA Championship
Pacific Palisades, Calif. – A week after a strong showing at the Miami Fall Invite, the Miami Hurricanes women’s tennis team returns to action this week, heading out west to participate in the 2014 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
In singles, No. 18 Stephanie Wagner qualified for the main draw and No. 71 Lina Lileikite will attempt to win her way into the main draw with three victories.
The Hurricanes’ third-ranked doubles team of Monique Albuquerque and Clementina Riobueno will compete in the main draw.
Albuquerqe and Riobueno are Miami’s first All-Americans since 2010.
Miami’s second doubles pairing of Wagner and Lileikite will play in qualifications, facing Vanderbilt’s Courtney Colton and Sydney Campbell Wednesday morning. If the duo can win three matches, they will qualify for the main draw.
Main draw singles semifinalists, main draw doubles finalists and main draw doubles semifinalists will receive automatic entry into the UTSA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 6-9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
Main draw action begins Thursday, Oct. 2 and will conclude Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Riviera Tennis Club.
