RENEWED: Neil Schiff Tennis Center

RENEWED: Neil Schiff Tennis Center

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s and women’s tennis programs will play on newly revamped courts in the 2014-15 season. With the court resurfacing scheduled to be completed prior to Miami’s first home tournament, other aesthetic upgrades, such as new wind screens, will take place over the next several months.

“These courts are going to be a huge upgrade for our facility,” head women’s tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said. “The Neil Schiff Tennis Center is one of the premier tennis facilities in the country and we’re thrilled to give it a face lift. We’re excited to have the resurfaced courts ready to go for our home tournament, and eager to see some of the aesthetic developments come later on this year.”

The freshly resurfaced courts and other soon to come aesthetic renovations will not only provide a fresh look for the facilities during upcoming competitions but will also provide great help with recruiting as the facility will play host to the Orange Bowl Junior Tournament.

“The junior tournament is a tournament that is played by some of the best junior players in the world. They all come through here, they all visit the University of Miami, and they all know about the weather here. We have that advantage,” said men’s head tennis coach Mario Rincon.

“The renewed courts are an eye opener—they are beautiful,” Rincon continued. “They look brand new out there, and with all the best junior players in the world coming through Miami, when they play at the Biltmore in Coral Gables as well as Salvador Park and the University of Miami, it’s the perfect time for us to get those recruits to have a look at the new courts.”

The resurfacing of the courts will be fully completed for the Miami Fall Invite, which will be hosted on September 19th. The men’s team will then follow suit, hosting the Miami Invitational on Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26.
