JACKSONVILLE — The University of Miami women’s soccer team continued its successful preseason campaign Friday night, toppling host UNF 3-0.
Freshman forward Grace Rapp, who has impressed the coaching staff in the early going, came through with the first two goals of the match to put the Canes ahead 2-0 within the first 20 minutes. Transfer Natalie Moik scored the final goal for the Hurricanes, sending a shot into the back corner in the 47th minute to seal a 3-0 win.
The Hurricanes registered 20 shots compared to just two by the Ospreys, while the visitors recorded eight corner kicks on the night. Moik led all players with six shots, while freshman forward Ronnie Johnson had four of her own.
Senior goalkeeper Emily Lillard started for the second consecutive match and made one save in just over 56 minutes of work, while freshman Phallon Tullis-Joyce preserved the clean sheet.
Miami will open its season next Friday, Aug. 22 on the road at Florida.
