No. 15 W. Tennis To Host Princeton Wednesday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –The 15th-ranked Miami Hurricanes women’s tennis team aims for its eighth-straight win when it hosts Princeton on Wednesday at 12 p.m.

The Hurricanes (11-2, 6-0 ACC) are fresh off a 4-0 win against No. 17 Baylor on Saturday, and play their second-straight non-conference match against the Princeton Tigers at home Wednesday.

Princeton comes to Coral Gables with an 8-4 overall record an ITA ranking of 75. The Tigers have been hot as of lately, winning five in a row before being tripped up by Ohio State on Saturday.

Entering Wednesday’s match, the Hurricanes are led by Monique Albuquerque’s team-high 13 wins including a team-long streak of eight matches.

Three other Canes have win streaks of six matches or more. Senior Melissa Bolivar, who clinched the match against Baylor with another clutch performance, is currently riding a seven-match win streak and has tallied 11 overall wins this spring. No. 61 Stephanie Wagner is second in total wins behind Albuquerque with 12, including a 6-1 mark at the No. 1 singles spot, and will look to extend her match win streak to seven against Princeton on Wednesday. Also hot as of lately is sophomore Clementina Riobueno who was come away a winner in her last seven matches.

Riobueno and Albuquerque head up Miami’s 14th-ranked doubles team and have accumulated a 13-1 record this spring with their current win streak at seven matches. Bolivar and Kelsey Laurente have risen through the rankings the last few weeks to No. 31 and will continue to do so, with their 9-1 overall record and current win streak of four matches.

The Hurricanes will get back into ACC play following Wednesday’s match with matches against Syracuse at home on Friday and at Wake Forest on Sunday.
