Men's Tennis Travels to Clemson and GT
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The men’s tennis team hits the road this weekend to play the first Atlantic Coast Conference matches of the season, at Clemson and Georgia Tech.
The Canes first play No. 23 Clemson University at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, then take on No. 52 Georgia Tech at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 9.
The Canes start their road trip coming off a dominant performance where they swept their midweek doubleheader and improved their season record to 6-3. The Canes started the day by shutting out Presbyterian College 4-0, and finished with a 7-0 shutout against Xavier University. The team looks to carry that momentum into its weekend matches.
Diego Soto is having an impressive senior season, leading the team in singles wins with an 8-1 record. Henrique Tsukamoto has also preformed well in his singles matches, posting a 7-1 mark. Junior Wilfredo Gonzalez saw his first action of the season this past week, coming back from an injury that sidelined him the past two months. He contributed a doubles and singles point to the doubleheader.
The Clemson Tigers will face No. 40 South Carolina on March 5 before their match against the Canes at the end of the week. The Tigers have a 9-2 record and the team is home to No. 36 doubles pair Carlos Benito and Eduardo Segura.
Georgia Tech will host No. 73 Georgia State on March 7. Their record is 6-4 and the team has the No. 57 doubles duo in partners Hunter Harrington and Daniel Strawn.
