The Game
Miami wraps up the 2013 year with a Dec. 30 matchup against Loyola at 7 p.m. at the BankUnited Center. Fans in attendance at the Monday, Jan. 30 men’s basketball game against Loyola will have an opportunity to win two lower level tickets and free parking to go see Jay Z in his Magna Carter World Tour on Jan. 2.

This is the first meeting between Loyola and Miami.

Adams To Play 100th game
Senior Garrius Adams is expected to play in his 100th career game, making his 50th career start against Loyola. In his fifth year with the Canes, Adams is posting the best season of his career with 11.3 ppg and 4.9 rpg. He sat out last season with a knee injury. Adams joins teammate Rion Brown (115 games played) in the century club. All five seniors from a season ago played in at least 100 career collegiate games.
Sharing the Lead
Eight Canes have shared team-highs in five statistical categories this season. Five guys have led the team in scoring and four have led or shared top rebounding honors. Four Canes led in assists, six in steals and five in blocks. For a complete chart, see page 5 of the notes.
Jekiri Posts Career Highs
Sophomore Tonye Jekiri posted nine points on 4-7 shooting and two steals in 25 minutes against La Salle, all career highs. In his rookie campaign, Jekiri totalled 47 points, 55 rebounds and 11 blocks in 34 games. In 12 games so far this season, Jekiri has 43 points, 50 rebounds and seven blocks.
Canes at the Rim
Ten of Miami’s first 19 points against La Salle were converted at the rim, with four dunks and a tip-in by the Canes.
Miami in National Stats
The Canes are ranked No. 48 nationally in turnovers per game, with just 10.8 per game. Miami has had less turnovers than its opponent in six games, and is forcing opponents into 11.4 turnovers per game.
Cardiac Canes
Miami has played four overtime games and three others that were decided in the final minutes. Miami is 1-3 in overtime this season and 2-1 in close games that ended in regulation: wins at Cal State Fullerton and vs. Arizona, and a loss to UCF.
It’s A Block Party
For the 12th-straight game, Donnavan Kirk recorded a block, extending the longest streak of his career. His 28 blocks this year put him at No. 48 in the country in blocks per game. His season-best was during the 2012-13 season, when he had 50 blocks at DePaul. As a sophomore at DePaul he had 32 swats and he had four in his redshirt freshman year at Miami.
