@CanesVB Earns Four Nods on All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four Miami Hurricanes were named to the All-ACC Volleyball Team Wednesday, the conference office announced.

Junior outside hitter Savanah Leaf and junior middle blocker Emani Sims earned first-team honors, while junior middle blocker Alexis Mourning (second team) and senior libero Ryan Shaffer (third team) were also recognized.

Sims, Mourning and Shaffer pulled in their second career all-conference recognition, while it was the career-first for Leaf. Miami’s four all-conference selections were tied with Florida State for second-most in the league and just one behind Duke, which led all schools with five honorees.

Sims leads the team with 134 blocks this season, averaging a team-high 1.32 blocks per set. Her hitting percentage of .341 ranks fourth-best in the ACC, while her blocks-per-set average of 1.32 ranks third-best in the conference.

Leaf has enjoyed another impressive season for the Hurricanes, ranking third in the conference in kills-per-set (3.83) and leading the team with 433 kills. The San Anselmo, Calif., native also ranks sixth in the conference in service aces-per-set (0.34) and second in points-per-set (4.55).

Not far behind Sims is Mourning, who ranked sixth in the ACC and second on the team with a .338 hitting percentage. Shaffer averages the second-most digs of any player in the conference at 4.79, and leads the team with 542 digs. She is also Miami’s all-time digs leader with 2,104 digs in her career.

The Miami Hurricanes (19-11) earned an NCAA postseason berth for the fifth consecutive season, and travels to Lincoln, Neb., for a first-round matchup with Oregon. Friday’s match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Huskers.com.
