Rincon Adds Three to Class of 2014

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team has signed newcomers Christian Langmo, Piotr Lomacki and Alexander Fahnehjelm to National Letters of Intent to play for UM beginning in the fall of 2014.

“We are thrilled to have these young men join our tennis program,” said head coach Mario Rincon. “All of them have a powerful game, drive, commitment and work ethic to play for the University of Miami, and helping us win against the best in the country. We will enjoy developing their games, and see them grow as student-athletes.”

Christian Langmo is a blue chip recruit from Boca Raton, Fla., who won the USTA Regionals Plaza Cup. He was a finalist at the 2013 Daytona Beach International Tennis Federation (ITF) and a quarterfinalist at the 2013 South Carolina ITF. He chose Miami over interest from Florida and Georgia Tech.

“We have followed Christian’s junior career since he was a little boy,” said Rincon. “He will be amazing for us. He’s a team player, and he plays with a lot of pride and determination. He has a big serve, powerful groundstrokes, and his work ethic and passion for the game make him one of the best recruits in the nation.”

Piotr Lomacki, from Poland, is currently ranked No. 1292 in the ATP ranking and No. 126 on the ITF juniors world ranking. In 2013, he won the Ozerov Cup in Russia and was a quarterfinalist at the Great Britain Future in October.

“Piotr has a very complete game,” Rincon said. “He can generate a lot power from anywhere on the court. He’s an amazing competitor, and he is a hard worker with a lot of weapons. He’s fast and he has great hands at the net.”

Alexander Fahnehjelm comes to Coral Gables from Sweden where he was the No. 6 junior player in the country. He won the 2013 doubles at Bytom, Poland ITF and was a finalist in doubles in Hillegom, Netherlands ITF 2013.

“Alexander plays an aggressive attacking style that will present matchup problems for anybody,” said Rincon. “He’s a big kid, and his serve, forehand, and ability to come forward will be a great addition to our program. He will be a real force in doubles for us, too. Alexander is also an exceptional student.”
