The Game
Miami returns to Coral Gables on Nov. 21 to face in-state foe UCF at 7 p.m. in the BankUnited Center.
The Series
Miami is 7-1 in the all-time series against UCF, which dates back to the 1986-87 season. The Canes are 4-0 against the Knights at home, 0-1 at neutral sites and 3-0 on the road. Miami won the last match up against UCF, defeating the Knights, 72-50, on December 18, 2012 in Orlando.

Miami Looks to Open 4-1 for Third-Straight Season
Miami has started the season 3-1 for the second-straight year. UM has opened both previous seasons under Coach L with a 4-1 record.
Canes Shoot 50 Percent in Four-Straight Halves
The Hurricanes have knocked down more than 50 percent of their shots in all four halves of the past two games. Miami was 26-51 (51%) from the field in the game at College of Charleston, knocking down 16-31 (51.6%) in the first period and 10-20 (50%) in the second. Miami hit 18-36 (50%) in the first half and 17-33 (51.5%) in the second stanza to drain 35-69 (50.7%) against Texas Southern. The Canes shot 31.1 percent against St. Francis Brooklyn and 39.1 percent against Georgia Southern to start the year.
Poise At The Line
The Canes knocked down 11-12 free throws on the road in Miami’s 16-point win in Charleston.
UM started the season 24-31 (77.4%) against St. Francis and 25-29 (86.2%) against Georgia Southern.
Finding Rhythm Beyond The Arc
Miami has hit 54.8 percent (17-31) from distance in its past two games after opening the season 6-36 (16.7%) in its first two outings. Forward James Kelly leads the way with six treys, followed by five from reserve Davon Reed and four apiece from Rion Brown and Manu Lecomte.
Diversity At UM Extends to Court
Five Miami players speak English as a second language. Raphael Akpejiori – Two African languages. Mike Fernandez – Spanish (Cuban). Tonye Jekiri – African. Manu Lecomte – French. Angel Rodriguez – Spanish (Puerto Rican). UM is the academic home of nearly 1,700 foreign students of all socioeconomic backgrounds, from more than 110 countries as diverse as Peru, Pakistan, and Poland. Miami’s diversity also is evident in its full-time faculty, which is nearly 36 percent minority, making UM one of the most diverse major private research universities.
Kelly Does It Again
James Kelly started the game at College of Charleston by hitting 4-of-4 from the field. Kelly ended the game with a Miami career-high 18 points, hitting all three of his attempts from long distance. Kelly registered 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 28 minutes against Texas Southern after totalling 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 25 minutes in the first two games. Against TSU and CofC, Kelly drained a trio of 3-pointers. Kelly leads the team with six made 3-pointers.
Dream Begins in Dallas
Former Miami Hurricanes All-America point guard Shane Larkin played in his first game for the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 18 against Philadelphia. Larkin talllied three assists, a trio of steals and three points in eight minutes. “It was like a dream come true. A lot of nerves, anxiousness and butterflies,” said Larkin. Larkin was traded to the Dallas Mavericks after being selected with the No. 18 overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks during the 2013 NBA Draft at Barclays Center. The Mavericks are coached by Rick Carlisle, who was recruited by and played under Larrañaga at Virginia from 1982-84.
