@CanesMensTennis Wrap Up at J. Kramer Invite

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team wrapped up competition during day two of the Jack Kramer Club Invitational.

In the quarterfinals of doubles, duo Omar Aly and Wilfredo Gonzalez defeated the Pepperdine pair of Francis Alcantara and Kento Tanaka-Tamaki, 8-7. Diego Soto and Gabriel Flores took on Vince Schneider and Tony Lupiei of Baylor but came up short, 8-5.

Aly and Gonzalez moved on to the semifinal round, putting up a great fight but were overcome in the tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-5), to SMU’s Nate Lammons and Alex Sanders.

In floating singles matches, Soto earned a win over Feliz Van Kan of Loyola Marymount, 6-3, 7-6. Despite his best effort, Flores was defeated by Vincent Schneider of Baylor, 6-4, 6-2.

Dual matches will start again on January 11, 2014 when the Hurricanes host Liberty University. Play will begin at 10 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
