Women's Tennis Announces Fall Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami women’s tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews released the team’s 2013 fall schedule Thursday.
The Hurricanes will open their fall season on Sept. 13 when they travel to Durham, N.C., for Duke University’s Fab Four tournament.
On Sept. 28 the team will make the trip across the country to the ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., where four Canes will have an opportunity to compete against some of the nation’s top players in a 10-day tournament.
“The All-American is a tournament where all of the top players participate, and it’s a good early test”, Yaroshuk-Tews said.
On Oct. 11 the Hurricanes will return to action from the comfort of the Neil Schiff Tennis Center when they welcome four teams—Auburn, Barry, Ole Miss, and Purdue—to town for the University of Miami Invite.
The following weekend Yaroshuk-Tews’ squad will head north to Athens, Ga., for ITA Regionals and, on Nov. 7, will compete in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
“This fall is about growing into different roles and developing,” Yaroshuk-Tews said. “We have the tournaments in place to achieve this.”
Coming off an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in the spring of 2013, expectations are high for a team returning an identical roster this fall.
“I think our program is better prepared heading into this fall than we have been in recent years,” Yaroshuk-Tews said. “With everyone returning we have to be alert and open to change.”
