Dickson Chosen To Lead USTA Championship Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Third year men’s tennis assistant coach Mark Dickson has been chosen to lead the USTA Florida Team at the 2013 USTA Boys 18 National Team Championship, held at the Atkins Tennis Center, located on the University of Illinois campus.

The experience for Dickson is anything but new. The former pro, who ascended to No. 32on the ATP Tour singles rankings, has been mentoring and coaching young athletes since 1990. His private instruction and tutoring led students to ATP rankings as high as No. 159 on the ATP Tour and No. 39 on the WTA Tour.

The Championship, which starts July 27 and ends July 30, gives Dickson another chance to relay his coaching knowledge onto others. His Florida Team will be comprised of seven of the top 100 nationally ranked amateurs. That is the most top 100 players on any of the 17 participating teams.

The 17 teams are selected by geographical region, formed by the USTA. Established in 1881, The USTA is the largest tennis organization in the world. It is comprised of more than 770,000 individual members and 8,000 organizational members that work to ensure the best tennis experience.

While July 27 represents the start of a Championship, is also solidifies the strength tennis has at both the University of Miami and in the state of Florida. Regarded as a top tier program, Miami tennis is well represented by some of the finest coaches in the country. For Coach Dickson, the experience is one he will certainly embrace.
