Johnson Advances to Final at East Preliminary
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami track and field program had a student-athlete advance for the second consecutive day at the NCAA East Preliminary.
Lea Johnson won her flight in the women’s hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 185’ 6”. The sophomore advanced to the finals of the women’s hammer throw.
Isaiah Simmons placed 20th in the men’s shot put with a throw of 57’. The redshirt freshman finished 13th in men’s discus on Thursday.
Alaine Tate placed 22nd in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:12.21. The junior ran the sixth fastest time in Thursday’s preliminary, finishing in 2:05.20.
Christian Cook ran the men’s 110m hurdles in 14.15 seconds. The sophomore did not advance to the next round, placing 31st out of 48 competitors.
