W. Tennis Moves Up in Latest ITA Ranking
SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team has moved up two spots to No. 13 in the latest ITA rankings.
In the last ITA rankings released February 26, 2013, the Canes were ranked No. 15. Two freshmen were in the top 100. Kelsey Laurente was ranked No.74 and Clementina Riobueno was ranked No. 91.
Sophomore Lina Lileikite was not too far from her teammates at the No. 110 spot. Miami also had a presence in the doubles team rankings. Lina Lileikite and freshman Stephanie Wagner were ranked No. 43. The duo of junior Melissa Bolivar and freshman Clementina Riobueno round out the rankings at No. 60
Helping Miami move up two spots in the latest rankings was the team win against No. 23 Clemson.
Miami won two of the three doubles matches against Clemson. On the singles side, the Canes stayed aggressive and had a big win from freshman Stephanie Wagner to lock up the match 4-3.
The Hurricanes hit the road this weekend to face No. 32 and ACC rival Georgia Tech in Atlanta on March 9.
