MTennis Scales Up Six Spots in ITA Poll

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the third consecutive week, the University of Miami men’s tennis team has scaled up in national ranking, earning No. 54 in the latest ITA poll.

Miami is one of nine nationally ranked Atlantic Coast Conference schools, including No. 1 Virginia. The top-ranked Cavaliers along with No. 46 Virginia Tech, No. 57 Clemson and No. 65 Georgia Tech will visit the Canes at home this. On the road, Miami will face No. 23 North Carolina No. 28 Florida State, No. 34 North Carolina State, and No. 36 Wake Forest.

The Hurricanes, 4-2, are coming off a pair of impressive home wins last weekend. On Feb. 1, the Canes knocked off UCF in their home opener, 6-1, followed by another lopsided 6-1 victory over then-No. 50 Rice on Feb. 3.

UM returns to action this Friday, Feb. 8 at 2p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center against No. 75 Louisiana-Lafayette. Friday’s match marks their second against the Ragin’ Cajuns and their fifth against a ranked opponent this spring season.
