Brown and Darden Qualify for Finals at Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Representing the University of Miami, T’Erea Brown and Dominique Darden advanced to the finals of the women’s 400m hurdles, while Devon Hill qualified for the semifinals of the men’s 110m hurdles in action at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Friday. Five Hurricanes overall saw action in day seven of the meet, which is being held on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Brown improved on her preliminary time (56.25) to finish second in heat two and third overall amongst 16 competitors with a time of 55.13. Darden also shaved off time in her second run of the Trials (55.70) after recording a 56.07 on Thursday to place fifth to advance. Both will run in the finals of the event on Sunday at 7:02 p.m. (EST) with a chance to qualify for Team USA.

Hill made his Trials debut with a third-place finish (13.67) in heat four to advance to the semifinals of the 110m hurdles. That will take place on Saturday at 7:20 p.m. (EST).

In the 200m dash, Lauryn Williams did not qualify for the finals after a 23.07 showing, but is in consideration to take part in the 4x100m relay in London. That decision will be made following the Trials.

Thandi Stewart finished her sophomore year with a 56.75 in the 400m hurdles. She earned All-America status at the NCAA Championships earlier this month.
