10 Student-Athletes Graduate in December 2012
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In Fall Commencement ceremonies held Thursday at BankUnited Center, 10 University of Miami student-athletes from five sports earned their bachelor’s degrees.
Included in Thursday’s graduates were six football players (AJ Highsmith, Mike James, Davon Johnson, Ben Jones, Brandon McGee, Curtis Porter), one soccer player (Kate Howarth), one men’s basketball player (Reggie Johnson), one rower (Katie Stanzilis) and one volleyball player (Nrithya Sundararaman).
Dyron Dye walked in Thursday’s ceremony, but will graduate in May. Both Reggie Johnson and Stanzilis walked during the May 2012 Commencement exercises.
Another group of 50 student-athletes is slated to graduate during Spring Commencement exercises in May.
“Graduation Day is a celebration for not only our student-athletes and their families,”Associate AD for Academic Services David Wyman said, “But for our whole community that has watched our Hurricanes give their very best effort in school and in their sport.
“Today we honor them for all their commitment and contributions they made to our tremendous university and join them in celebrating their academic success,” Wyman said.
