Miami Releases Men's Tennis Fall Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis coach Mario Rincon has announced the fall 2012 schedule, which includes six tournaments over a three-month period. 

“We are very excited for everyone to start competing and start showing what they worked on over the summer,” said Rincon. “The guys are all hungry for competition, and we will be facing good players, so we are very excited about the fall.” 

Of their six potential fall tournaments, five will be hosted within the state of Florida. The team’s first competition will take place in Gainesville, Fla., at the second-annual Bedford Cup (Sept. 14 -17), where the team could compete against individuals from up to 10 teams in the state of Florida. 

Ten days later, the team will travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., to compete in the FGCU Invitational (Sept. 28 – 30), then the Hurricanes will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to play in the ITA Regional Championships (Oct. 18 – 22). 

Miami players who qualify for the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships  head north to Flushing Meadows, N.Y., in early November while the rest of the team will be split between a pair of events. Some of the Canes will participate in the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic (Nov. 9-11) in Sarasota, Fla., and others will compete in the USTA Futures (Nov. 10-11) in Bradenton, Fla.
