Social Contest to Select Campus Setting for College GameDay Promotional Spot

May 2, 2012

Hey Canes Fans! For the first time ever, ESPN will film a College GameDay commercial on a university campus selected by fans. Beginning on Tuesday, May 1, college football fans across the country can participate in a social media promotion to have a College GameDay spot shot on their campus this summer.

Through May 10, fans can vote once per day for their university at GameDayVote.com via computers or smartphones or using the Facebook app at facebook.com/collegegameday. Fans can keep track of the leading schools throughout the promotion and share the contest with friends on various social platforms to drive votes for their university.

More than 120 FBS football programs will be included in the promotion and schools will be encouraged to actively drive participation. ESPN will drive participation in the contest with a robust digital and social media plan that uses paid and owned media.

This first-of-its-kind spot will be filmed this summer on the selected campus with real students and begin airing in the fall to promote the 2012 season of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot. The contest highlights College GameDay’s unique on-campus presence while building on the successful social vote last season which asked fans to choose a mascot for the ESPN College GameDay Dry Cleaners spot.

Now in its 26th year, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot airs Saturdays at 9 a.m. ET on ESPNU and at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN.
