CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Over the February 10-11 weekend, University of Miami Track and Field team will be split among two meets: the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
Senior All-American Devon Hill will be venturing to Arkansas to run the 60-meter hurdles against a strong field that boasts numerous other All-Americans. His season best of 7.76 seconds is currently ranked eighth in the nation. He will be joined by freshman jumper Innocent Jacob, who is currently ranked fourth in the ACC in the high jump with his school-record height of 2.08 meters (6′ 9.75″) and eighth in the long jump with a distance of 7.14 meters (23′ 5.25″).
Also traveling to Arkansas will be seniors Britney Clarke (60m hurdles), Rachel Dupree (60m hurdles, high jump), and Jason Johnson (long jump), junior Samantha Williams (long jump, triple jump), and sophomore Nicole Cummings (60m hurdles, long jump).
The action in Arkansas starts on Friday at 2:30 p.m. EST.
The rest of the Canes will be headed to Iowa State to compete in the Iowa State Classic. Senior ACC Champion Tarika Williams will focus on her shorter race this week, as she is entered in the 60 meters. Freshman hurdler Christian Cook will be the lone representative for the Canes in the men’s 60-meter hurdles at this meet.
The Friday session will feature the open events while the Saturday session will highlight the seeded events. Miami has eight competitors in the seeded events, including: sophomore Thandi Stewart (400m), freshman Taneisha Cordell (800m), senior Jennifer Estime (600y), sophomore Connor Adams (One Mile), sophomore Lindsi Arrington (One Mile), senior Brian Laskowski (800m), senior Miranda Wilson (Weight Throw) and senior Austin Rector (600y).
Events get underway in Ames, Iowa on Friday at Noon EST.
