Park Shoots Season Best 69 for Canes

Las Vegas, Nev. – Freshman Rika Park shot a season best three-under par to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team in Tuesday’s second round action of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

After shooting a 304 in round one, the Canes delivered a 303 in day two. The Canes remain in 16th place going into the final round.  

“Rika played very well today,” said UM head women’s golf coach Patti Rizzo. “Hopefully we will end the fall with a good round tomorrow.”

UC Davis leads the tournament with a nine-under par 567. UC Irvine (574), Pepperdine (574), San Diego State (575), UNLV (578), and Idaho (578) round out the top five.

Park was spectacular for the Canes today as she shot a two-under par 34 on the front nine and a one-under par 35 on the back. Park birdied four holes, scored par on 13 holes, and only bogeyed once.

Park was able to move up 38 spots from day one to 20th place for the tournament.

Sophomore Carina Cuculiza and senior Jennifer Hirano each shot a five-over par 77 on the day. Cuculiza registered par on 13 of the 18 holes and her score of 77 was her best of the season. Hirano also fired par on 13 of the 18 holes and shot a one-over par 37 on the front nine.

Freshman Leticia Ras-Anderica shot an eight-over par 80, including a score of 38 on the front nine and senior Patricia Arana delivered a 10-over par 82 on the day.
