TOWSON, Md. – Former University of Miami men’s tennis student-athlete Christian Blöcker has been named a Capital One Academic All-District First Team performer for the second straight season, as determined and announced by CoSIDA.

Blöcker, a double major in Accounting and Finance, boasts an impressive 3.94 grade point average and is a six-time member of both the Dean’s List and Provost’s Honor Roll and five-time member President’s Honor Roll.

This past spring marked his fifth consecutive semester with a 4.0 GPA.

“Christian is the definition of a student-athlete,” head coach Mario Rincon said. “He sets his priorities and doesn’t get distracted. The pressure of playing high in the line-up coupled with doing as well as he did in school is nothing short of impressive.”

On the court this past season, Blöcker went 13-20 overall and 10-14 in dual match play. His best record in UM’s line-up came at No. 2, where he went 7-5 during the spring season. In doubles while teamed with Carl Sundberg, he turned in a mark of 7-4 against ACC opponents and 8-3 in dual match play in the second position.

In his three-year stint with the Canes, Blöcker recorded 39 career singles victories.

Blöcker has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team each of the last two seasons. This year’s team has yet to be announced. This past semester, he was also tapped into the ODK (Omicron Delta Kappa) Honor Society.

Last year, the Hamburg, Germany native earned ESPN The Magazine All-District III First Team honors after turning in a 3.91 GPA.
