FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The plan leading up the ACC Championships is to continually improve week-by-week. That is what the women’s 4×400 relay has done so far this indoor season and that is what it did in the final day of the University of Arkansas’ Tyson Invitational.

Freshman Thandi Stewart along with upperclassmen Takecia Jameson, Ti’erra Brown and Jennifer Estime circled the track in 3:38.82. Now the relay team and the rest of the Hurricanes will have 12 days to prepare for the ACC Championships, held in Blacksburg, Va. at Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House Feb. 24-26.

Earlier in the day, Takecia Jameson ran her season-best time in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 23.88 seconds.

In Friday’s action, Greg Kaczka completed the mile run in 4:14.66, breaking Dan Acosta’s 12 year-old record of 4:15.59. The Glen Allen, Va. native was among the Hurricanes top cross country runners in the fall, showing steady improvement in each race.

Junior Devon Hill fell just 0.01 seconds shy of advancing to the 60m hurdle final with a time of 7.90 seconds. However, the school record holder won the consolation final in 7.83 seconds. Earlier in the day, Hill ran a 7.83 second race in the preliminary round.

In her first individual event of the season, Brown completed the 400m dash in 53.62 seconds, good for seventh place and just 0.28 seconds off of her career-best time in the event.

Freshman Nicole Cummings reached her early collegiate-best mark in the long jump, reaching 6.07m (19-11.00) and placing third in a field of 37 jumpers.

Jennifer Estime ran a new personal-best time of 2:12.72 in the 800m run, placing sixth in the 30-woman field.

Veteran thrower Miranda Wilson led a trio of Hurricanes in the weight throw, finishing in second place with a mark of 18.34m (60-02.00). Kyla Buckley and Ashley Holmes had marks of 16.37m (53-08.50) and 16.09m (52-09.50) respectively.
