Sun Bowl = Sold Out
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – It only took 36 hours for the University of Miami to sell its entire allotment for the 2010 Hyundai Sun Bowl.
Sales were brisk from the start and ‘Canes Ticket Office was able to sell all 8,000 of its assigned tickets before opening for business on Tuesday morning.
The game is officially a sell out and no tickets remain available to the general public through either participating school or the Sun Bowl.
“I want to thank our fans in both Miami and throughout the country, especially alums in the states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona,” said Miami Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt. “The sales are a testament to the strength of our brand and the hard work of the Sun Bowl in organizing this marquee matchup of two storied programs.”
The excitement about the renewal of the Notre Dame and Miami rivalry has been palpable since the announcement on Sunday afternoon.
As Bernie Olivas, the Sun Bowl’s executive director said, “This is the best matchup ever in the history of the Sun Bowl. It will be hard to reproduce in the coming years.”
On Monday afternoon, before Notre Dame or Miami had sold their entire allotments, tickets were already appearing on secondary market sites for as much as $309.
