Nov. 6, 2010

FLUSHING, N.Y. – University of Miami All-America senior Bianca Eichkorn lost her second round match in the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, falling 6-4, 6-2 to SMU’s 22nd-ranked Marta Lesniak Saturday at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

A day after beating Columbia’s Nicole Bartnik in three sets, the 14th-ranked Eichkorn battled Lesniak in the first set but was never able to gain an edge.

The third-winningest student-athlete in singles play in program history, Eichkorn has tallied 107 wins in her storied career. Last season, the native of Tengen, Germany went 31-5 overall and 23-0 in dual match in singles to earn All-America honors. This fall, she is 7-4 with a first flight singles title at the Miami Fall Invitational to her credit.
