Flores' Run Ends in Semis at Southern Intercollegiates

ATHENS, GA. – University of Miami freshman Gabriel Flores saw his strong run come to a close in Sunday’s semifinals at the University of Georgia’s Southern Intercollegiate Championships.
Flores defeated Georgia Tech’s Dusan Miljevic, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning to improve to 4-0, but then lost his first match as a collegian in the afternoon. After taking the first set 7-6, Flores dropped the next two, 6-2, 6-2, to fall to senior Alex Zotov of Vanderbilt in the Division II semifinals, closing the first weekend of competition for the Hurricanes.
Flores and the Miami men’s tennis team returns to action at the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., beginning on Mon., Oct. 4.
