Men's Tennis Signs Gabriel Flores

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head men’s tennis coach Mario Rincon has announced the signing of Gabriel Flores (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) to a National Letter of Intent to play men’s tennis for the University of Miami.

Flores was born in Washington, D.C., but lives in Puerto Rico and represented the nation in the Davis Cup as a 17-year-old in 2009. He is the top recruit out of Puerto Rico and all of the U.S. territories, and is ranked 26th among all U.S. players in the Class of 2010 by TennisRecruiting.net.

“Gabriel will be a great addition to our program,” said coach Rincon. “He has an all-around game with a lot of power. He is very disciplined with a great work ethic, both in tennis and as a student. Gabriel is a wonderful young man and we are very glad he will be joining us in the fall.”

Flores is rated as the top junior player in Puerto Rico, No. 2 among men in Puerto Rico and No. 192 in the world junior rankings. He trains at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in both Spain and Naples. Fla.

He selected Miami over several other Top 25 collegiate men’s tennis programs.
