Bosher Named ACC Specialist of the Week
Oct. 19, 2009
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami junior punter and placekicker Matt Bosher has been selected one of five Atlantic Coast Conference football players of the week announced Monday by the ACC. Bosher is the fourth Miami player to earn conference weekly honors this season. It’s the first time this season he has picked up the accolade and the second time in his career.
Bosher earned ACC Specialist of the Week after converting all three of his point-after-touchdown attempts and connecting on two field goals in the Hurricanes’ 27-7 win against UCF. Bosher had a season-long 46-yard field goal in the third quarter that extended Miami’s lead to 20-7. He also extended his streak to 62 straight PATs, which ranks fourth all-time. Additionally, he punted four times and averaged 33.2 yards per punt, while three of his kicks were downed inside UCF’s 20-yard line.
This week’s honorees feature Boston College running back Montel Harris (Offensive Back of the Week), Virginia Tech red-shirt freshman running back Ryan Williams (Rookie of the Week), Georgia Tech junior center Sean Bedford (Offensive Lineman of the Week), Virginia senior end Nate Collins (Defensive Lineman of the Week) and Clemson junior safety DeAndre McDaniel (Defensive Back of the Week).
