Tallahassee, Fla... – No. 16 Florida State survived a late rally to defeat the No. 24 University of Miami men’s tennis team, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles (10-4, 1-0 ACC) won the doubles point and picked up singles wins at the No. 4 and 1 positions to take the early 3-0 lead. But Miami rallied as sophomore Christian Blocker knocked off FSU’s 55th-ranked Clint Bowles at the No. 2 spot, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to get the Hurricanes on the scoreboard.

Miami (4-4, 1-1 ACC) knotted the match at 3-all with wins by sophomore Keith Crowley at No. 6 and 96th-ranked sophomore Carl Sundberg at No. 5.

But FSU’s Maciek Sykut battled back to claim the win at No. 3 to clinch the ACC win for the host `Noles.

“I’m proud of our guys,” said Miami head coach Mario Rincon. “They came back strong after losing the doubles point. Christian played an outstanding singles match for us today, while Keith and Carl got solid wins too. We will get back to work on Tuesday and get ready for a great challenge against Georgia Tech.”

The Hurricanes return to ACC play versus the Yellow Jackets at home at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Saturday, Mar. 7, at Noon. Admission is free.
