Bianca Eichkorn Named Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week

Coral Gables, FLA (www.hurricanesports.com) — – Bianca Eichkorn, a sophomore on the women’s tennis team, has been named Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week. Last week, Eichkorn went 3-0 with consecutive wins at the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships during the Pre-Qualifying Singles draw in Malibu, Calif. The Tengen, Germany native also recorded a 2-1 record in doubles play alongside partner Gabriela Mejia.

Eichkorn, ranked No. 109 in the preseason ITA polls, started off the weekend with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win over Kentucky’s Christine Johnston (No. 118). She has now won six consecutive matches on the year after falling in her season-opener against Beier Ko (No. 84) of Harvard in the first round of the 16th Annual William & Mary Invitational. She now earns a trip to the Qualifying portion of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30.
