CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will be facing the UCF Golden Knights at the UCF Arena, Thursday Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Miami at UCF.

Miami got back on the winning track after it defeated the Binghamton Bearcats in its last outing on Saturday, Dec. 13. The Hurricanes won the contest 73-37. It was the least amount of points that Miami has allowed since 1996.

LaToya Cunningham hit five three-pointers on the night, matching a career-high. It was the third time this season that the senior has hit five treys in a game. Vitalija Vascuinaite continued her high level of play as she recorded her third double-digit scoring effort of the season, as she dropped 10 points on the Bearcats. Also scoring 10 points was freshman Shenise Johnson, the freshman continues to lead the team in scoring and is also the teams leading rebounder. Johnson has scored in double-digits in seven of nine games this season, the other two games she was only a bucket away as she had eight points.

Sophomore guard Epiphany Woodson made her season-debut with two points and three assists in 13 minutes of play.

A Look at UCF
UCF enter Thursday’s game with a 2-7 record with wins over Florida A&M (71-69) and Jacksonville (75-71).

The Golden Knights are led by Erica Carter who is averaging 13.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Marcquitta Head scores in double-figures each night with 11.0 points per contest.

UCF is averaging 62.6 points and 43.1 rebounds per game as a team. It is shooting 36.9 percent (203-550) from the floor, 26.8 percent (19-71) from beyond the arc and 66.0 percent (138-209) from the free throw line. The Golden Knights also register 7.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per outing, while holding their opponents to 72.2 points per game and a shooting percentage of 43.3 (235-543).

The Series
The Hurricanes have won the last seven meetings between the two team including a 64-56 win last season at the BankUnited Center, in a game where Lamese James scored her career-high 14 points.  Overall, Miami holds a 10-3 edge over UCF, with the Golden Knights last victory coming on Jan. 24, 1983 in Orlando.
