Laron Byrd and Aldarius Johnson Named Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week

Coral Gables, FLA (www.hurricanesports.com) – Freshmen wide receivers Laron Byrd and Aldarius Johnson have been selected at the Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 2.

With just 55 seconds remaining in regulation at Virginia Saturday, November 1, Byrd tied the score at 17-17 with a 26-yard touchdown reception from freshman quarterback Jacory Harris. Then in overtime, Harris hit Johnson, his high school teammate at Miami Northwestern, with a 9-yard touchdown to put the Hurricanes up by the final score, 24-17.

With the win, Miami’s record improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the ACC. The victory was also the Hurricanes fourth straight.

After a bye week, the Hurricanes return to action against Virginia Tech on Thursday, November 13. That game will honor UM’s latest class to enter the Ring of Honor–Edgerrin James, Jim Kelly, Cortez Kennedy, Jim Otto and Gino Torretta.
