Men's Tennis Opens Doubles Play Tuesday

Tulsa, Okla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team opens doubles play at the D’Novo/ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Tuesday.
Freshman Ignacio Taboada and sophomore Keith Crowley will face Eoin Heavey and Kallim Stewart of Cal at 1:30 p.m., while the Miami tandem of senior David Rosenfeld and junior David Simon open doubles competition versus Stanford’s 12th-seeded Bradley Kahn and Richard Wire at 3:30 p.m.
After dropping their qualifying round singles matches on Monday, three Hurricanes continue in consolation play on Tuesday. After falling to TCU’s Kriegler Brink, 7-6 (10), 6-1, Rosenfeld (1-3) will face host Tulsa’s Rusty Turbin at 10:30 a.m.
Old Dominion’s Aleksandr Seleznev knocked Miami sophomore Carl Sundberg (0-1) into the consolation bracket with a 6-3, 7-5 decision. Sundberg will square off versus Nebraska’s Colin Paar at 12:30 p.m.
Also set for consolation play on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. is Simon, who fell to Texas’ top-seeded Olivier Sajous, 6-1, 6-3. The 99th-ranked Simon (2-2) will take to the court versus Michigan’s Mike Sroczynski.
While they will continue in doubles play together on Tuesday, Crowley (5-2) and Taboada (4-3) saw their All-American singles competition come to a close. Crowley had his five-match win streak snapped with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Mississippi’s 11th-seeded Bram Ten Berge, while Taboada fell to Tobias Wernet of Minnesota, 7-6 (2), 7-5.
