<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Blacksburg, Va… The 26th-ranked University of Miami men’s tennis team dropped its second-straight match on the road, falling to No. 28 Virginia Tech, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
After claiming the doubles point with wins by the 24th-ranked duo of Daniel Vallverdu and Carl Sundberg at No. 1 and the 54th-ranked pair of David Rosenfeld and Vivek Subramanian at No. 2, the Hurricanes dropped all six doubles matches to falter down the stretch. It marks just the second time in 15 dual matches this season that UM has not claimed a singles point.
Virginia Tech improves to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the ACC with the decision, while Miami falls to 9-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
The Hurricanes return home to the NeilSchiffTennisCenter to close out their home schedule with a pair of ACC matches this weekend. Miami will face NC State on Friday, Apr. 4, at 3 p.m. and then take on WakeForest on Sunday, Apr. 6, beginning at noon. Admission is free.
