Vallverdu and Eichkorn Undefeated In Doubles Play

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Miami doubles team of Laura Vallverdu and Bianca Eichkorn won both matches Saturday against opponents from Furman and Princeton while UM also won three of four singles matches against Maryland on the second day of play at the University of North Carolina’s Kitty Harrison Invitational Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Romy Farah, Caren Seenauth and Eichkorn all won singles matches against opponents from Maryland while Vallverdu was the lone Hurricane to suffer a loss. Farah defeated Julia Huschke, 6-3, 6-2, Seenauth beat Karin Lundmark, 6-2, 6-2 and Eichkorn downed Lisa Miller, 6-0, 6-3 while Vallverdu fell to Michal Amir in a tight battle, 7-6 (5), 6-3.
In doubles action Saturday, the duo of Eichkorn and Vallverdu went 2-0 while Farah and Seenauth split with opponents from Furman and Princeton.
Eichkorn and Vallverdu beat Monica Arguello and Lauren Osborne of Furman, 8-4, and Kelly Stewart and Ivana King of Princeton, 8-2, while Farah and Seenauth won 8-5 over the Princeton duo of Blakely Ashley and Sarah Huah and lost to Furman’s Laura Gioia and Natasa Manojlovic, 9-8 (8).
In doubles play Friday, Eichkorn and Vallverdu beat the Kentucky duo of Lauren Meier and Megan Broderick while Farah and Seenauth fell to Carolina Escamilla and Christine Johnson, 8-5.
