Miami Duo Falls in Seminole Invitational Finals
Nov. 4, 2007
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – The University of Miami men’s tennis duo of junior David Rosenfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and senior Vivek Subramanian (East Brunswick, N.J.) fell in the doubles final at the Seminole Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
After a first-round bye, Rosenfeld and Subramanian went on to win three-straight doubles matches in three days to advance to this afternoon’s final. They cruised past UCF’s Brock Sakey and Johan Beigart, 8-3, in Friday’s second round, and then battled to knock off Florida State’s Brad Mixson and Andrew Bailey, 9-8, in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
They faced their second-straight pair of Seminole opponents on FSU’s home court in the semifinals on Sunday, downing the 26th-ranked tandem of Sam Chang and Maciek Sykut, 8-6, for the opportunity to face off versus another FSU duo in this afternoon’s finals.
Despite a strong round of play, the Hurricanes weren’t able to knock of the Seminoles’ Clint Bowles and Jean-Yves Aubone, who claimed the 9-7 win.
The Miami men’s tennis squad opens its spring dual-match schedule with a Jan. 29 contest versus in-state rival Florida at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on UM’s Coral Gables campus.
