Farah and Seenauth Eliminated At ITA Indoors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Miami doubles duo of Romy Farah and Caren Seenauth was eliminated in the semifinal round at the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio after a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-2 loss the Baylor duo of Lenka Broosova and Zuzana Zemenova.
The tandem had advanced into the semifinal round after wins over North Carolina and Ohio State the previous two days. On Thursday, Farah and Seenauth defeated the UNC’s duo of Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand, 9-7, before beating OSU’s Christina Keesey and Angela Dipastina, 8-3, on Friday.
After close tie-breaker win in the first set, 7-6 (4), Farah and Seenauth were unable to keep the momentum as Broosova and Zemenova won the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The doubles bracket had changed from a single-set format to three-set format starting in the semifinal round.
The ITA Indoors, hosted by Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus, began with 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams on both the women’s and men’s side. Main draw and consolation play will continue through Sunday when all of the finals matches will be played.
