Eichkorn, Wasilewski Fall In Opening Round In Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Miami freshman Bianca Eichkorn and sophomore Claudia Wasilewski dropped their opening round matches Friday at the 2007 FSU Invitational at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center to Florida International’s Liset Brito and USF’s Jessica Zok respectively.

Eichkorn lost to Brito 7-5, 6-3, in the garnet bracket while Wasilewski and Zok battled into a third set in the gold bracket where Zok eventually came away with the 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win.

Both players will now move into the consolation side of their respective draws with each set to play Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Eickhorn will be taking on Kansas’ Kunigunda Dorn while Wasilewski will take on Dorn’s teammate at Kansas, Edina Horvath.

Eichkorn and Wasilewski will also be playing as a doubles team Saturday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

Their teammates, Romy Farah and Caren Seenauth, are also in action this weekend, moving on into the doubles semifinal round of the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
