Vallverdu's Run Ends at All-American Men's Tennis Championship

Tulsa, Okla. – After a first-round win, University of Miami junior Daniel Vallverdu (Valencia, Venezuela) fell in the second round of main draw singles competition at the 2007 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship at the University of Tulsa’s Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Thursday.
The 19th-ranked Vallverdu opened Thursday’s competition with a straight-sets win over UNLV’s No. 27 Elliot Wronksi to advance to the afternoon’s second round. There, he battled fourth-ranked Travis Helgeson of reigning NCAA champion Georgia, falling 7-6 (6), 6-3.
The All-American Championship features the top collegiate men’s tennis players in the nation and gives participants the opportunity to claim the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2007-08 season. The Hurricanes will vie for national recognition once again at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio, from Nov. 1-4.
