Cohen Captures Second ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

Coral Gables, Fla. – The ninth ranked University of Miami’s No. 1 ranked junior Audra Cohen was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s women’s tennis player of the week after finishing the weekend undefeated in both singles and doubles. This is the second ACC Performer of the Week honor for Cohen. It was announced Monday.
The Plantation, Fla. native topped two ranked opponents in singles beginning with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Georgia Tech’s No. 7 Kristi Miller. The following day, Cohen helped to lead Miami to a 4-3 upset over No. 7 Clemson as she went head-to-head with No. 85 Estefania Balda and defeated the freshman 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Cohen and partner Caren Seenauth, moved up six slots in the latest ITA rankings to become the No. 24 ranked team. The doubles duo defeated the Yellow Jacket’s Amanda Craddock and Alison Silverio, 9-7. The next day, Cohen and Seenauth faced Clemson’s Federica van Adrichem and Ina Hadziselimovic to capture an 8-6 victory. They remain undefeated in the No. 2 spot with 11 overall victories.
After finishing the weekend 2-0 in singles and doubles, Cohen now has a 5-0 record in ACC action. She’s currently on a 20-match win streak, including a 15-0 streak in the dual season in singles with an overall season record of 25-1.
The ACC also announced The University of Miami’s senior Luigi D’Agord as the conference’s men’s tennis player of the week. It marked the first time this season that the men’s and women’s tennis players of the week have come from the same school.
The Hurricanes are back in action Friday, March 30 through Saturday April 1 as they host Virginia Tech and Virginia this weekend.
