Miami Tennis Set to Take on Harvard

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team, who recently moved up to No. 8 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, will host the Crimson of Harvard University in non-conference action Friday, March 16 at 9 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes (11-2, 3-0 ACC) moved up for spots in the ITA rankings and marked the No. 2 spot in the ACC rankings after coming off an undefeated weekend with wins over No. 13 Florida State in a nail-biting 4-3 victory, followed by a 6-1 win over No. 18 Wake Forest, and a 6-1 defeat over No. 45 N.C.State to open up conference play.
The ACC placed four teams in the Top 10 of the ITA including No. 6 Georgia Tech, No. 7 Clemson, No. 8 Miami, and No. 10 North Carolina.
No. 1 ranked Audra Cohen was named ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after going 3-0 in both singles and doubles in conference play. The Plantation, Fla. native has a season record of 23-1 with an 18-match win streak, and is undefeated in dual play with 13 straight wins in singles. In doubles, Cohen and partner junior Caren Seenauth, who are ranked No. 30 in the nation, are 8-0 since joining at the No. 2 position back on February 16. Cohen is 20-3 in doubles this season, and is still ranked in doubles at No. 11 with freshman Laura Vallverdu.
The Hurricanes are 9-0 at home on the season, and will look to post their seventh consecutive home-match victory as they take on Harvard.
Scouting the Opponent:
Harvard (1-7) is coming off its first win of the season, a 7-0 victory against Massachusetts Tuesday at the Murr Center Courts. The Crimson won nine of the 10 matches played, falling only at No. 3 doubles.
No. 107 Lena Litvak won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 for her 19th singles victory this season. She teamed up with Beier Ko at No. 1 doubles to earn their fifth win together and Litvak’s 16th doubles victory of the season.
Ko picked up her 14th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles vs. the Minutewomen.
Julia Forgie and Vilsa Curto came up with their first wins of the season at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
