Final Stats

CHICAGO, Ill. – The 14th seeded University of Miami men’s tennis team dropped its final match at the USTA/ITA Indoor National Team Championships, falling to 15th-seeded Stanford, 4-3, on Sunday evening at the Midtown Tennis Club.

The 26th-ranked Hurricanes bow out of the tournament after dropping all three matches, falling to 4-4 on the season, while the 28th-ranked Cardinal finishes tournament play at 1-2, picking up its first win of the season versus Miami to move to 1-6.

Stanford earned the doubles point via victories at the No. 1 and 3 doubles positions, but Miami battled back by winning three straight singles points in straight sets in the No. 3 position by senior Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla./Laurel Springs), in the No. 1 spot by senior Luigi D’Agord (Freeport, Bahamas) and in the No. 4 position by junior Vivek Subramanian (East Brunswick, N.J.) to jump out to the 3-1 lead.

However the underclassmen didn’t fare as well, as the Hurricanes dropped the final three singles matches at the No. 5, 2 and 6 spots to close Indoor Nationals competition without a team win.

The University of Miami men’s tennis squad returns to competition in its ACC opener on February 24 at Florida State at 1 p.m. Stanford 4, Miami 3
