Women's Tennis Post Their Second Dual Win of the 2007 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The fifth ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team advanced to a 2-0 record after defeating Princeton University 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The day started with doubles competition as Miami finished with two out of three wins. Miami’s sixth ranked duo of Audra Cohen and Laura Vallverdu were the first to register a win, defeating a Princeton duo of Darcy Robertson and Joanna Roth in the No. 1 spot. Caren Seenauth and Gina Sabatino posted an 8-2 defeat in the No. 3 position over Blakely Ashley and Sarah Huah.
No. 1 ranked Audra Cohen claimed the first singles victory of the day as she faced Melissa Saiontz in the No. 1 position. The junior from Plantation, Fla. posted a 6-0, 6-1 finish.
Vallverdu, ranked sixth and is the highest ranked freshman in the nation, notched a singles victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Princeton senior Darcy Robertson in the No. 2 spot.
Seenauth claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 3 position over Ivana King before Sabatino topped Sarah Huah 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 4 slot.
Senior Emily Mowery competed in her first meet of the 2007 dual season as she took on Laura Trimble and posted a 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 6 position.
Miami will gear-up for their next phase of competition as they head to Madison, Wis. to compete in the USTA/ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championships Feb 1-3. The Hurricanes will be amongst the nation’s top collegiate teams in the country participating in the prestigious tournament.
