Women's Tennis Wrap Up Their First Day at the ITA National Indoors and Palm Springs Invite

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team came away with some solid wins on their first days of the ITA National Indoors and the Palm Springs Invite.
Audra Cohen defeated Anna Lubinsky of Texas A&M 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of Women’s Singles in the ITA National Indoors. In the second round, she won 6-4, 6-3 over Natalie Frazier of Georgia. Cohen moved on to quarter finals where she went up against Diana Srebrovic from Florida and won 6-4, 6-2. She is now in the semi-finals, where she will go against Melanie Gloria of Fresno State on Saturday.
Out in Palm Springs, the hurricanes began the day with two sets of doubles matches in the morning. Romy Farah and Audrey Banada won their match against Vanja Crevice and Marija Milic of Texas 8-5
Caren Seenauth and Laura Vallverdu also faced a doubles squad from Texas. The Miami duo lost to Sarah Lancaster and Courtney Zauft 8-6.
In the singles A draw, Vallverdu and Farah advanced to the quarter-finals after winning two singles matches apiece. Vallverdu defeated Georgia Tech’s Whitney McCray and Tracy Lin of UCLA. Farah came out with a win against Diane Matias of USC and Alex McGoodwin of UCLA. Audrey Banada was defeated by Jessica Zok of Baylor.
Caren Seenauth won in the B singles versus Zusana Chmelarova, while Gina Sabatino lost 6-3, 6-4 to Ana Lind of UCLA.
Emily Mowery had a walk over before going down to Christine Striplin of Georgia Tech.
Doubles matches in Palm Springs will resume tomorrow morning.
