COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Pairing with teammate Tim Krebs, Miami senior Eric Hechtman recorded his 82nd career doubles victory in the 14th-ranked Hurricanes 7-0 sweep over No. 68 Maryland Sunday, making him UM’s all-time career leader in doubles victories.

Hechtman, whose career doubles record now stands at 82-34, surpasses former Hurricane John Eagleton, a two-time All-American who posted an overall record of 81-10 from 1974-77, to take sole possession of the top position among Miami’s all-time career doubles leaders.

The Hurricanes (12-2, 4-1 ACC) swept all three doubles and all six singles matches against the Terrapins (8-4, 1-3 ACC) to mark their fourth-consecutive 7-0 victory. The victory also extends UM’s win streak to six matches.

Playing at the No. 2 position, Hechtman and Krebs defeated Maryland’s Scott Fink and Nickolai Nielsen 8-3 in the record-breaking victory.

Miami would also win on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts to clinch the doubles point.

In singles, seventh-ranked Luigi D’Agord downed No. 93 Nielsen in 6-3, 6-2 to extend his unbeaten streak to 10-consecutive matches.

Daniel Vallverdu upended Andreas Vaage-Nilsen 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot while Krebs defeated Boris Fetbroyt 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.

Hechtman kept his day perfect in singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Fink in the No. 4 slot.

Rounding out the singles lineup, John Hoyes and Vivek Subramanian, who have now each won eight-straight, won at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

The Hurricanes return to action Friday against No. 4 Duke at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
