Hurricanes Down USF 4-0

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In a match threatened by rain, Miami knocked off in-state rival USF 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes (6-1) claimed all three doubles matches and three of six singles matches played to win their fourth-straight. Miami and USF (1-3) had three matches go unfinished upon the agreement of both coaches.
In singles, 18th-ranked Josh Cohen earned a victory over USF’s Federico Barton at the No. 2 spot after Barton was forced to retire in the second set. Cohen won the first set 6-2 and was leading the second 1-0 when Barton retired.
UM’s Tim Krebs improved to 7-0 this spring with a win over Juan Barragan, 6-4, 6-0, at the No. 3 position while Eric Hechtman defeated Mark Jaegar by a similar scored at the No. 4 position.
In doubles, Hurricane tandem Luigi D’Agord and Daniel Vallverdu downed Dirk Britzon and Barton, 8-6, at No.1, Hechtman and Cohen defeated Jaegar and Dillon Brozyna, 8-5, at No. 2 and Krebs and P.J. Passalacqua upended Barragan and Mark Gattiker, 8-3, at No. 3.
The Hurricanes get back to ACC play next weekend, traveling to Clemson Saturday, March 4.
