Hurricanes Sweep UCF 7-0

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Taking all six singles matches and two of three doubles matches, 24th-ranked Miami knocked off in-state rival UCF 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
As a team, the Hurricanes (5-1), claimed five of six singles matches over UCF (1-1) in straight sets.
In singles, 25th-ranked junior Luigi D’Agord defeated Sinan Sudas, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot wile 87th-ranked junior Josh Cohen downed Alamgir Wali, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
At the No. 3 slot, senior Tim Krebs improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tarek Ben Soltane while senior Eric Hechtman handled Norman Alcantar, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4.
Senior John Hoyes defeated the Golden Knights’ Sebastian Delgado, 6-4, 6-4 and sophomore Vivek Subramanian bounced back from a 6-4 first set loss to Brock Sakey to win 6-0 in the second set and take the 10-8 match tie-break.
In doubles, Cohen and Hechtman downed Delgado and Sakey, 8-0, at the No. 2 spot and Krebs and junior P.J. Passalacqua knocked off Soltane and Wali, 8-5 at the No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.
The Hurricanes return to action next Sunday, hosting South Florida at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center at 12 noon.
