Miami Concludes Second Day at Hurricane Invitational

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Coral Gables, Fla. – Members of the University of Miami men’s tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition at the 2006 Hurricane Invitational by winning all six singles matches and taking two of three doubles matches against No. 48 Michigan at the NeilSchiffTennisCenter.

In doubles action, the team of Josh Cohen and Eric Hechtman downed Peter Aarts and Scott Bruckman, 8-2.  Tim Krebs and Daniel Vallverdu defeated Andrew Mazlin and Ryan Heller, 8-6, while Brian Hung and Matko Maravic topped Vivek Subramanian and Luigi D’Agord , 9-8(8-6).

 

In singles action, No. 25 D’Agord beat No. 58 Maravic, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 and 87th ranked Cohen downed Brian Hung, 6-3, 6-2.  Vallverdu defeated No. 62 Heller, 6-2, 6-1 while John Hoyes was victorious over Aarts 6-2, 6-2.  Krebs defeated Mazlin, 6-2, 6-3 and Hechtman took the match against Steve Peretz, 6-3, 6-1.

 

The Hurricanes will return to action Monday 2 p.m. to face No. 8 Duke in the final day of the Hurricane Invitational.
